Perfect for honeymoons and special occasions, The Bothy at No 7 Achachork is a luxurious holiday cottage in the crofting township of Achachork, just a couple of miles from the centre of Portree. The cottage has sweeping views over the crofts towards Portree and the Cuillin mountains in the distance. Architecturally designed, The Bothy offers a very high standard of accommodation and is ideal for couples looking for something a little special!

As you enter the stone cottage, the light hallway has coat hooks for wet jackets and space for muddy shoes. The kitchen / dining room / lounge is a spacious room with the lounge having a double height cathedral ceiling and large windows / patio doors letting light flood in. The focal point of the lounge is the wood burning stove, perfect for creating a cosy atmosphere even on the wildest of days! There is a deep sofa to curl up on and an arm chair, flat screen TV, Sky TV, DVD player, Ipod docking station, CD player and speakers. Next to one of the large windows you'll find a table with two chairs, ideal for romantic dinners! The very well equipped kitchen has a large breakfast bar with two stools, double electric oven, gas hob, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge freezer and dishwasher.

Also on the ground floor the double bedroom has a king size bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, dressing table with wash hand basin and a flat screen TV. The main bathroom is next door and comprises of a stand alone bath, walk-in shower with rain shower head, W.C., bidet and wash hand basin.

There is a spiral staircase leading up from the lounge to the upper floor. Open to the lounge below, the office area is light and bright. There is a PC with printer for guests use, books, maps and games. Wi-fi is available throughout the cottage and there is a phone for guests to use. To complete The Bothy's touch of luxury, there is a Finnish sauna, cross trainer and a second bathroom with shower, W.C. and wash hand basin.

In the garden there is a BBQ, picnic table and chairs to enjoy lazy afternoons whilst savouring the views. Off street parking is to the side of the cottage by the front door.

A cot can be supplied for pre-toddler infants. However due to the nature of the cottage, the property is unsuitable for older infants/children to stay.

This was a perfect place to stay when visiting the Isle of Skye. The location is central, very close to Portree for shopping and restaurants, and all of Skyes attractions are easily reached by car. The accommodations and amenities were excellent, especially the glorious deep tub and rainfall shower after a long day of hiking! There were thoughtful touches throughout, such as a collection of games upstairs, and the binoculars beside the chair in the living room, perfect for taking in the amazing views. My only complaint would be that the bed was not a king as advertised – I think it was a queen, which is a bit too small for my daughter and I to share comfortably. Perhaps sizing standards are different from Canada? (On our final night I slept on the sofa, which turned out to be a perfectly comfortable alternative) All in all we loved our stay at the Bothy, and I would definitely recommend it to others!

Everything was even better than we hoped. All items in the cottage worked. The view was outstanding and the location allowed for easy travel all around the island.

The Bothy was one of the fanciest places that we’ve ever stayed. Between the views, the fireplace, large soaking tub, shower, sauna, kitchen, I could go on- it was a truly luxurious stay and we couldn’t ask for more for our honeymoon. There was only one thing that I hope won’t turn people away from staying at this wonderful place, but for people to be aware of: when we arrived, the hot water was not running. We found what I believed to be an on-demand water heater in the kitchen, and after turning it on we had to wait until the next morning to start getting the hot water. Not a big deal, but I felt that there could have been instructions either before arriving at the property or in the manual explaining how these things work. On-demand water heaters are rare in the U.S. so running one might not be common sense to everyone. I want to add that this could have not been the property’s fault at all! There was also a power surge when we first arrived that seemed to affect the town of Portree. Maybe when that happened it switched the heater off. Regardless, we miss the Bothy already and would definitely stay there if given the chance again.
