Talamh Ur is on the Waternish Peninsula and enjoys outstanding views across Loch Dunvegan and towards the Outer Hebrides. This is a charming cottage and is perfect for family holidays and groups of friends.

The side door enters into a hallway, perfect for storing damp jackets and muddy boots. There is also a W/C. The hall leads into the fully equipped kitchen / dining room which makes a great space for evening entertaining. There is an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and a stereo. The dining table seats up to six people. Through the kitchen area you arrive in the main hallway which links all of the rest of the rooms together.

The spacious family living room has stunning panoramic sea views and is perfect for watching sunsets in the evening. There are books for reading and an open fire and a large TV to relax in front of.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite with W/C and electric shower. There is a second double bedroom and two single bedrooms. All the bedrooms have built in wardrobes for ample storage space. There is a family bathroom with W/C, bath and separate shower.

Outside, the garden is full enclosed and there is a sheltered seating area to soak up the panoramic views.

We had a lovely week staying in the cottage. It had everything we needed, including a very useful dryer for when the weather was a bit damp! The enclosed garden was excellent for our energetic dog, with a wonderful view across the water to the next peninsula. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for us all. The location might be a little remote for some people, but we really appreciated the peace and quiet, when the rest of the island was busy with summer visitors. There are good walks from the door, and excellent tea and cake at the Yurt Cafe just down the road. The owner called to make sure we had everything we needed, and was really helpful. We would definitely come back here (in fact my daughter did not want to leave).

Great house in an amazing part of the world to stay.

Lovely house with plenty of space and adequate facilities for six. Great panoramic view of the sea and accross to the outer hebrides, we were visited by roe deer, short earled owl (in the tidy garden), red fox accross the moorland and the closest I’ve ever seen the pair of resident golden eagles that flew over and around the house five days out of the seven that we were there, one even landing only 45 yards away breifly before taking off again. When you see them up close there’s no way you can mistake them for the “tourist eagle” buzzards! Also a pair of the white tailed sea eagles glided over twice, perhaps even more impressive but a little farther away. the owner is friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Some nice local walks and only a short drive from Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beach and Neist Point lighthouse and the main town of Portree are not much farther. The house also has a collection of books and games (the tv is a bit awkward to workout though..!). Overall definitely recommended for a relaxing break or to spot local wildlife.
