Romantic Places to Visit in Skye
Once you have chosen your perfect holiday home, planning your adventures comes into action! These are some of the most romantic places to visit in the Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh area:
Eilean Donan Castle – well known for being featured in many TV shows, films and pictures, this majestic spot is an obvious choice for the sense of clan history. Situated in a dramatic location on the shore at Dornie on the mainland, the small tidal island of Donnán is surrounded by outstanding scenery. The castle has become one of the most recognised attractions in Scotland. Many proposals have been made here! (yes, we are hinting!)
Talisker Bay – one of Skye’s many hidden gems, Talisker Beach is bordered by impressive cliffs and a sea stack. Wander the grey sand (expansive when the tide is out) and explore the rock pools with your loved one. There are many spectacular views throughout Talisker, making the journey down to the beach a truly pretty one. The village of Carbost is only 10-15 minutes away by car, so finding somewhere to eat after your romantic stroll won’t be an issue.
Loch Coruisk – Take a boat trip together from Elgol to this beautiful inland loch in the foot of the Black Cuillins. A great place to spot seals on the rocks and birds flying by the boat!
Sligachan Old Bridge – an easily accessible location situated on the A87, at the junction of the roads from Portree, Dunvegan and Broadford. This impressive spot is surrounded by “enchanted waters” and has a fascinating tale of why. With outstanding views of the Cuillin Mountains, this is a picture-perfect spot or you and your loved one. The Sligachan Hotel is based just opposite the bridge, so why not make a romantic meal your next stop?
The Lump, Portree – Yet another hidden gem in the Isle of Skye. Easy to access and right in the centre of Portree, you can escape from the shops and restaurants in just a five minute walk! Simply follow the path opposite the hospital and walk up the small hill towards the Apothecary’s Tower. This wee spot is perfect for a lunchtime picnic or an evening wander with your sweetheart. Don’t miss out on climbing to the top and admiring the view!
