Tucked away in the enchanting village of Dornie, yet only a few minutes walk away from Eilean Donan Castle, Lochside is a delightful retreat that promises a memorable escape, with stunning views along Loch Long where otters and seals are very often spotted.
Lochside is perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye, taking the Glenelg ferry, driving over the Applecross Hills and exploring the rugged beauty of Torridon! Plenty to keep you occupied for a week or two!
Upon stepping inside, you are welcomed by an open-plan living area that radiates warmth and comfort. The spacious lounge invites you to unwind on a sofa, with a television ready for cosy movie nights or catching up on your favourite shows. The property also offers free Wi-Fi for guests’ convenience.
Adjacent to the lounge, the dining area boasts a charming table that comfortably seats six, ideal for family meals or gatherings with friends. The fully equipped kitchen is a culinary haven, complete with modern appliances and all the essentials, making it easy to whip up anything from quick breakfasts to lavish dinners. The kitchen includes an induction hob, a double oven, an overhead extractor fan, a dishwasher, and a fridge freezer providing space for food for all the family. Adjacent to the kitchen you will find a utility room with a sink, washing machine and tumble drier. There is also a drying rack and coat hooks. An ideal place to leave outdoor gear after a relaxing walk.
As you venture down the hallway, you’ll find a cosy double bedroom, providing a serene sanctuary for restful nights. The bathroom, conveniently located next door, has a walk-in shower, W.C. and wash hand basin.
Venture upstairs, and you’ll discover two additional bedrooms each thoughtfully designed for relaxation. The master bedroom has a king size bed and ample storage for clothes. The twin bedroom has two single beds.There is a Travel cot (not a full size cot) and high chair for guests to use for infants. The upstairs bathroom has a bath with over bath shower, W.C. and sink.
The highlight of the upper floor is undoubtedly the vibrant family room which provides a cosy place to curl up and read a book, a desk if you need a quiet place to work and a low level table and chairs if the kids want to get creative or do a puzzle on a rainy day.
One of the standout features of Lochside is the large fenced-off garden area located directly across the road. This outdoor haven offers direct gated access to the shore and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, providing the perfect backdrop for leisurely afternoons spent basking in the sun or enjoying a picnic with loved ones.
At the back of the property, a charming expanse of green unfolds—a large grassy area that invites both relaxation and play with a washing line available for use.
For added convenience, a dedicated parking space is situated at the side of the property, ensuring you can easily come and go as you please.

Excellent place with large, very well equipped kitchen, comfortable dining area and living room. Comfortable beds, overall very clean. We were very happy to stay there for a week, with short distance from Skye – our target place for day hiking hiking trips.

Lochside is a beautiful property in a stunning location, and under normal circumstances it could have been a wonderful stay for our family. Unfortunately, during our visit there was a 10+ hour power outage affecting the whole area. While I understand that the weather event was beyond the owners control, there was no emergency backup option (such as alternative heating or cooking provision), and the handling afterwards was disappointing.
Despite the inconvenience and our decision to stay on, there was no goodwill gesture offered, only a strict reference to terms and conditions and the SSE refund threshold. A small token of care could have turned an unfortunate situation into a positive memory. Despite paying £1,410 for 5 nights, there was no goodwill gesture or meaningful effort to address the inconvenience. Lovely setting, but the handling of the situation left us disappointed.
Would I recommend to others?
No not unless the approach to guest care during unforeseen problems changes.
