Stein, North West Skye
Florrie’s was named after the owner’s lovely grandmother & has been designed to be a luxury holiday experience for a couple. The large upstairs living area, is a light, airy room which our builder insists is one of the best rooms on Skye, with windows on two sides. For cooler evenings or the winter months there is a beautiful old, green Morso log burner.
The tables were hand made for us by a local carpenter which sit very well with Harris Tweed sofa. The compact, functional kitchen has that all important dishwasher.
Downstairs, is the bright and airy bathroom with a spacious walk in shower and a large bath. All the fittings are top of the range, classic design. The bedroom with its king sized bed has another log burner, a bit of a treat in the winter months, although there are also electric wall heaters, if you prefer.
To the side of the house, is of road parking, an absolute blessing in Stein.
Stein is a conservation village with a terrace of pretty white washed houses and a jetty for fishing boats all designed by Thomas Telford in the late eighteenth century. The views are far reaching across the small islands in the bay to the Outer Hebrides beyond. Waternish is famed for its sunsets which guests can enjoy from the front garden or the jetty, further down the village.
Waternish is in the North West of Skye, and still one of the quieter parts of the island, while also convenient for Dunvegan or Portree when shopping for provisions. More importantly, there are a number of great restaurants & cafes in Dunvegan & nearby Edinbane.
