West House must offer one of the best holiday locations on Skye.

Situated in the village of Stein on the Waternish peninsula, it not only has a waterfront garden directly onto Lochbay, it is just yards from the oldest Inn on Skye, the Stein Inn & Michael Smith’s Michelin starred, Lochbay Restaurant!

The two bed, two ensuite property is a year round house with a large log burner for cosy winter stays, while its open plan layout makes it a spacious, convenient house for comfortable, sociable holiday living. Its shared shore front garden offers the perfect place to watch the famous Waternish sunsets or to enjoy an early evening drink with fabulous views across to the loch to the Outer Hebrides in the distance. A fishing boat bobs in front of the house,supplying the freshest seafood for the Inn & restaurant.

Stein is a conservation village with a fascinating history - built in the 1760’s by Telford as part of his vision for a ‘model’ fishing village. Now it is a photographer’s dream - a pretty row of white washed cottages right on the edge of the bay.

West House is unusual in having its own, off road parking. Guests can park up, stroll to the pub, relax in the garden, or simply sit in front of the log burner & read a book or watch a film.
West House has been newly refurbished for 2023.

West House is also very convenient for the excellent restaurants in Edinbane and Dunvegan, as well as being conveniently situated for easy shopping in Dunvegan and Portree. There are many breathtaking walks around Waternish, including the walk along the cliffs to the lighthouse at the end of he peninsula, very popular with the local seal population!

Waternish remains one of the quieter regions of Skye & yet boasts several popular visitor attractions such as Skye Skyns, Dandelion Designs, Skio Pottery and Cuckoo Tree Gallery. There are daily ‘Divers Eye’ boat trips, which explore the bay’s diverse scenery and wildlife. Gordon (the skipper) may take you to see puffins or minke whales. Boat trips to historic St Kilda, also leave from the jetty at Stein.

Accommodation:

The front door leads into a large, fully open living space with a well-proportioned kitchen, dining area and a large lounge area with two settees and wood burner.

The master bedroom has a large bath and a luxurious walk-in shower.
The second bedroom has a small ensuite shower.
Both bedrooms have wonderful views across the loch, to the dramatic headland across the bay and the Outer Hebrides beyond.

Kitchen Area: Double oven and ceramic hob. Full size dishwasher. Tall Fridge Freezer. Washing machine in a separate utility area. Well equipped with ample crockery & cooking equipment open shelving, designed for ease of access. Large window. A beautiful space for those who love to cook!

Dining Area: Ercol table with four chairs.

Lounge Area: Double fronted log burner. Two-seater leather sofa, 3 seater covered sofa. Coffee table. Large TV with Sky TV. Fast WIFI throughout the house.

First Floor Accommodation:

Master Bedroom: King sized bed, ample hanging and drawer space. En suite with generous sized, walk in shower, heated towel rail, bath, wc and wash basin.

Second Bedroom: Double bed with king size quilt. Wardrobe hanging space, plus chest of drawers. Ensuite with compact, walk-in shower, wc and large hand basin.

Outside Space:

Garden: Gated to the front, steps down to the shore with direct beach access. This is shared with the guests from Florrie's, next door. There is a bench and picnic table for guests to enjoy and the generous garden offers space to relax.

Parking: Off road to the side of the property.

Please note: there is a washing machine in an adjoining utility room.

In addition, Florrie's is next door and if booking in conjunction with West House, offers accommodation for parties of up to 6 people.
