The Old Church

Hallin, North West Skye

The Old Church, Halistra is an historic "Telford Church". Thomas Telford, Scottish civil engineer and architect who also designed the Caledonian Canal, was commissioned to design a simple to construct church that could be easily built in areas of the Highlands and Islands that were without a parish church. Built in the 1820's, The Old Church has been split into two cottages and one of these is available to rent as a unique holiday home.

The large entrance hall is perfect for leaving muddy boots and waterproof jackets. It gives access to both floors and there is a downstairs W/C leading off from it. The comfy and spacious living area has a flat screen TV, video/DVD player, I-pod docking station and wood burner. 50kg of coal will be provided for each weekly let and any extra required will need to be bought in. Through the living room there is a large family kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The living area also has a formal dining table and chairs.

Upstairs, the family bedroom is spacious, light and airy with two arched windows and a shower ensuite. There is a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets for storage. It has a king size double bed and two twin beds. There is a further bedroom which has two locking beds providing either a super king size double or a twin room (please state your preference at time of booking). The family bathroom has a walk in shower, bath and WC.

The Old Church has a travel cot, high chair, stair gates, child monitor, kids cutlery and a childs step for guests to use. There is also a selection of games and DVD's to suite both adults and children.

There is private parking for one vehicle behind The Old Church.
