A romantic trip around the Island and a special offer!
For some Valentine’s is about romance, for other’s it is about friendship, the bond with your pet, or the journey of being at peace with yourself. Overall, it is about love and all the good that comes with it.
It can also be a place, somewhere you feel your happiest, the most alive and your heart beats fast with joy to be somewhere that you love!
For me on the Isle of Skye that would be the Quirrang. It is the most breathtaking and beautiful place I have been on the Island, the landscape and surrounding geology and rock formations, the needle standing tall and the mysterious feeling all around makes it a place I would definitely return.
From the minute you step out of the car and start the journey to the top it feels as though you are going on an amazing adventure.
There are so many beautiful places on the Isle of Skye, I thought I would do a run through of our top 5 most romantic and atmospheric places on the Island.
1. The Quiraing
You can start this hike from two locations, at the top of the Quiraing single track road there is a large car park, or if you follow the road round into Flodigarry from Staffin there is a parking area if you wish to hike from the bottom. Make sure you are well prepared for these hike’s with suitable clothing and equipment, the terrain can be challenging and the weather on Skye is very unpredictable!
2. The Coral Beach
You will find this beach along the end of the single track road into Claigan, along the route you will pass two Lochans on either side of the road, if you look closely you might spot some swans who like to swim in the first lochan! At the end of the single track there is parking. Once you have parked up it is a short walk along the farm track until you come to the beach. Just keep following the path and you will see it below. It is a beautiful sight and the beach in summer looks and feels tropical! The sea sparkling light blue and the sand glistening in the sun! It is also a stunning place to catch the sunrise or sunset! If you walk up the hill it is a perfect place to sit and have a picnic admiring the view all around you!
3. Brother’s point
This walk is situated in Culnanoc on the road out to staffin from Portree. Once you have passed Glenview hotel there is a layby on the left you can park in. Once parked if you cross the road there is a path down to the start of the walk, go through the two gates until you come to the notice board for Brother’s point. This is the start of the walk. Walking down to the point you will first see the beautiful landscape ahead of you, you will pass some old croft ruin’s to the left on the hill and as you near the bottom you will get to a beach and a waterfall to the right. It is such a peaceful place and is said to have once been home to Monks who were living there. As you cross the river and work your way towards the point you will come round the hill with spectacular sea views. Looking down to the left you can see crocodile rock! Then once up on the point you can see for miles!
4. Talisker Bay
A lovely beach in a quiet area with dreamy views and some friendly peacocks at the start!
Once your down in Talisker, park by the gate to the entrance to the walk, it is quite a long walk down to the beach along a track with gorgeous views of the hills and cliffs surrounding. Once you reach the bottom there are some rocks to cross before you are on the beach.
Look out for the wonderful waterfall to the right it is amazing! This beach is a perfect place for a picnic and a stroll definitely not one to be missed!
5.Sligachan
Walk through the winding paths at the bottom of the cuillin’s. The winding rivers and the Cuillin mountain’s ahead makes this place so breathtaking! Follow the little paths and see where they take you! Or sit and marvel at the beauty all around.
