A Look Back at 2019
Happy New Year!
To give you an idea on what goes on behind the scenes, join us in a good- humoured look back at 2019 …. and here’s to 2020!
We kick started last year by introducing our new BLOG! Over the year we have covered topics as diverse as Bringing your Furry Friends on holiday to Star Gazing Dark Skies.

Early Spring weather brought this interesting view from the office today!
We welcomed new member of staff to the team this Spring. Meet Hajni – our wonderful Transalvanian Hungarian!
Our brand new Welcome Folders are launched just in time to kick start the season this Easter….we begin distributing to cottages
Our office became a temporary shelter for Kath’s cat Toksvig. On his way to the vet, with a poorly paw. We are pleased to say that he got better super quick!
JUNE – JULY- AUGUST 2019
Busy busy busy….1297 bookings along with weddings in the Fairy Glen, we sorted out lost property, bin collection dramas … you know, the usual kind of stuff!
Seriously though, it was a very busy summer! Special shout out to all the housekeepers who keep things running smoothly!
Between June-Aug we welcomed a total of 3,269 people (adults and wee ones) booked into our holiday homes across Skye and Lochalsh.
During this summer the majority of our visitors were from UK, US, Germany, France and The Netherlands but we also welcomed folk from further afield including Australia and Singapore!
Psst there was a film crew on the island …..but shhh were sworn to secrecy!
We attended the Association of Scotland’s Self Caterers (ASSC) Annual Conference in Glasgow. It was a great way of meeting new as well as familiar faces in the industry and keeping ourselves up to date with the latest information.
First snow on the Cuillins and the chance to take a breath! Time for cottage owners to carry out those routine maintenance jobs that are simply impossible during the main holiday season.
As many of our cottages get geared up to welcome guests over the festive season we manage to sneak out for our office xmas lunch at The Cuillin Hills Hotel! Nom Nom Nom.
We are delighted that Upfront Reviews reveal 96% of our guests would recommend Islands and Highlands Cottages!
Looking forward to 2020
Bookings are already coming for our holiday cottages and it is looking like it will be another great year.
Visit Scotland’s theme for 2020 is Year of Coast and Waters. Perfect for our coastal location! And yes, we will be using this as a great opportunity to promote and celebrate our fantastic coastlines, lochs, and ….err… whisky! Have we mentioned that 2020 sees the launch of malt whiskies from our two newest distilleries – Isle of Raasay and Torabhaig? Read our blog
